Definition
The most fundamental knitting stitch. The working yarn is held behind the fabric while the right needle is inserted through the front of the stitch on the left needle from left to right, wraps the yarn, and pulls a new loop through to the right needle. Produces a smooth, V-shaped appearance on the side facing the knitter.
